BOEING DOOM! Pilots Ejected From Boeing's F-15QA, On Runway At MidAmerica St. Louis Airport

Pilots ejected from plane on runway at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport

MASCOUTAH, Ill. — Two pilots ejected from an F-15 fighter aircraft Tuesday on a runway at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah, Illinois. The F-15 has been used in training exercises at MidAmerica since February. A dispatcher said one pilot was injured and one was not injured, and that the plane was on the ground at the time. An airport spokeswoman declined to comment. Scott Air Force Base said the two active-duty pilots ejected safely after "experiencing an emergency" on the runway about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The base spokesman didn't elaborate on the emergency or say if the plane was in the process of landing when it happened. He said the injured pilot was hospitalized after suffering wounds not believed to be life-threatening. Scott Air Force said in a statement: "An F-15QA, recently accepted by the Air Force from the Boeing Corporation, departed the runway today at Mid America Airport, Ill. Two U.S. active duty pilots who were on board ejected safely and received minor injuries. The aircraft was slated to be transferred to the Qatari Air Force through the Foreign Military Sales Program. The incident is currently under investigation.” Source
