At least 5 people died as An-12 cargo plane crashed in Lviv, Ukraine

An-12 transport aircraft made an emergency landing near the Ukrainian city of Lviv on Friday, when the plane ran out of fuel, the country’s Minister of Infrastructure announced. According to preliminary data, 5 people died when an An-12 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing near the Lviv airport in Ukraine, stated Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii in a Facebook announcement on Friday.  The minister added that the incident appeared to be due to the plane running out of fuel and that an investigation into the incident was underway. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Iurii Lavreniuk wrote on his Facebook page that the plane was in the midst of cargo charter flight UKL4050 en route to Lviv from Vico, Spain. According to preliminary data, seven crew members were on board. The plane vanished from radar screens at 6:48 in the morning, and radio communication with the crew was lost.  Source

An All Nippon Airways plane from western Japan bound for Tokyo’s Haneda Airport had to turn back to Fukuoka Airport for an emergency landing. Fukuoka Airport officials say crew on board the Boeing 767 reported engine trouble shortly after 9:50 a.m. Thursday Japan time. The aircraft made an emergency landing at 10:15 a.m. It then moved over the runway on its own power and stopped on the taxiway. Fire engines stood by and the runway was closed for about half an hour. Transport ministry officials say no injuries have been reported among the 270 passengers and eight crew members on board. All Nippon Airways says the aircraft’s cockpit indicators showed a temperature surge in the right engine, as the plane was ascending after takeoff. The pilots shut down the engine and headed back to Fukuoka.
