Eight skydivers and one pilot died on Sunday when a plane crashed in northern Sweden
The GippsAero GA8 Airvan, a single engine plane popular with skydivers, crashed shortly after 14:00 (12:00 GMT), having left Umea airport.
The plane crashed on an island on the Ume river, a police spokesman said. All those on board were Swedish, police added.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. Swedish media quoted witnesses as saying some of the parachutists were seen trying to jump off the plane just before it crashed. Source

The American Airlines aircraft was returned to its gate at LaGuardia Airport yesterday afternoon for the unknown mechanical problem.
Just before the flight, which was heading to Washington DC's Reagan Airport, was about to take off the pilot noticed the plane shake and saw some smoke, according to CNN.

All 9 aboard medical evac plane killed in Philippines crash
All nine people on board a small medical evacuation plane were killed Sunday when the aircraft crashed into a resort area south of the Philippine capital and exploded in flames, officials said.
The light plane crashed into a resort compound in Pansol village in Laguna province near the foothills of Mount Makiling. Police and rescuers retrieved nine bodies from the wreckage, police said. Two people on the ground were injured and brought to a hospital. Eric Apolonio, a spokesman of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, said the light plane was on a medical evacuation flight from southern Dipolog city in Zamboanga del Norte province and disappeared from radar for unknown reasons as it flew over Laguna, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of the capital.
The plane was supposed to land in Manila. Source
