San Francisco’s BART service completely halted by computer problem

San Francisco’s public transit service, BART, stopped running overnight, halting all train service.  Bay Area Rapid Transit said Saturday that crews working overnight on BART’s uninterruptible power supply ran into problems that have impacted the power supply system and train control routing system.  Without these systems, a BART statement says, it is unable to safely dispatch its trains for service.  The company also said it has multiple crews working to get both systems back up and running, but for now, bus agencies will be providing free trips for service between stations. BART’s ridership on weekdays averages more than 430,000 and it connects downtown San Francisco with the East Bay region cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont and other communities. The transit system also provides trips to the San Francisco airport for about 4 million people annually.  Some regular BART riders who were trying to get to work Saturday vented their frustration about the outage, suggesting they would need to resort to ride share services such as Uber. Space Fantasy #71: NASA's Administrator ATHEIST Jim Bridenstine Says NASA Heading Back To Moon. This Time To Stay?

NASA heading back to Moon soon, and this time to stay Washington (AFP) - NASA is accelerating plans to return Americans to the Moon, and this time, the US space agency says it will be there to stay. Jim Bridenstine, NASA's administrator, told reporters Thursday that the agency plans to speed up plans backed by President Donald Trump to return to the moon, using private companies. "It's important that we get back to the moon as fast as possible," said Bridenstine in a meeting at NASA's Washington headquarters, adding he hoped to have astronauts back there by 2028. "This time, when we go to the Moon, we're actually going to stay. We're not going to leave flags and footprints and then come home to not go back for another 50 years" he said. "We're doing it entirely different than every other country in the world. What we're doing is, we're making it sustainable so you can go back and forth regularly with humans." Source
